I use theory, models and observations to conduct interdisciplinary ocean science, including work on upper-ocean physics and coastal and ocean ecosystems and biogeochemistry.
I develop and use mathematical and computational tools to build understanding of geophysical fluid dynamics.
I aim to build understanding of the fundamental processes and systems-level dynamics of the Earth as a coupled system. Themes include air-sea, ice-ocean, and marine physical-biogeochemical interactions, as well as Earth system modeling of global warming scenarios.
